Cooneen Group design, manufacture and supply uniform to Transport for London, one of the most recognised brands in the world. With over 31 million journeys made across the network every day, the new modern uniform helps customers recognise Transport for London staff more easily, and is a uniform employees are proud to wear.
This bespoke uniform was co-designed by HemingwayDesign in conjunction with the TfL staff. The uniform was created with comfort, durability, sustainability and attention to detail in mind – both celebrating the Tube’s heritage but also incorporating cutting edge design, fabric performance and innovative features.
Nick Brown, London Underground’s Chief Operating Officer, said;
`This new modern uniform has been developed hand-in-hand with our staff, and reflects both our heritage and our diversity. The new designs will help give our customers an even better service by making our staff instantly recognisable to them.’
The success of the uniform has led to other TfL modes taking a bespoke variation of the TfL uniform, meaning they will now have a unified and coherent uniform across all of their businesses.
Mike Brown MVO, Commissioner of Transport for London, said;
I can say for certain I was very pleased how working well with Hemingway Design enabled us to maintain London Underground’s rich design heritage and iconic brand, whilst creating a smart, comfortable and practical uniform staff can be proud to wear.
TfL Customer Service Assistant Serge Ake says he was “a bit tired” with the existing uniform, “but in this I feel proud, and protected and warm. People arrive here from New York, Tokyo, and we are the first people they meet in London. We needed a uniform that represents all that is best about the TfL brand.”
A measure of its success, Cooneen were recognised for the uniform at the UK Professional Clothing Awards in 2016 winning Best Manufacturer and Distributer.
